The 2nd June in Bhutan is a day to commemorate the official crowning of the Fourth King Jigme Singye Wangchuck and also to celebrate the Social Forestry day where many Bhutanese across the nation mark the day by planting saplings.

This June, 2016 farmers of Menchari under Orong gewog came together for the first time to plant saplings and flowers to rejoice the birth of Gyalsey and mark the 60th birth anniversary of the Fourth King.

The saplings were planted in and around the temple with initiative from Samdrup Jongkhar Initiative (SJI) organization. The SJI coordinator said that the initiative was to create awareness amongst the lay people in the community about environment conservation and its sustainability practices.

Latter part of the day the people also collected garbage keeping in mind the green and clean environment for healthy and hygienic lifestyle.
