Step by step of a long journey!

In an effort towards promoting zero waste craft with value addition through enhancement of income generation opportunities and reduction of pressure on landfill, SJI in collaboration with Pemathang gewog administration organized a five day training from 25-29 January, 2016 for eight women from the gewog.

They were trained on various zero waste craft techniques and basic tailoring skills by Dewathang Zero Waste Craft Group members. Basic financial literacy skill was also imparted to the women by SJI interns from Gaeddu College of Business studies.

The SJI Executive Director engaged them on larger well being through inculcation of healthy habits and behavioral changes, especially as women who played a critical role in societal dynamism. The training provided opportunity to exchange new ideas and build excellent social relationship. The group will now be able to conduct similar trainings in other gewogs on zero waste. Pemathang is first gewog in Samdrupjongkhar Dzongkhag to take such a proactive initiative for their community.

This is a continuation from 20-21 December, 2016 training in Pemathang geowg.
